Creating Credit Notes
Tessera only accepts credit notes with negative values. Creating credit notes through the Coupa Supplier Portal (CSP) allows for proper credit note submission to Tessera, as Coupa converts all credit notes to negative values by default.

Creating a Credit Note Against a Purchase Order
A legal entity must be set up before you can begin submitting credit notes. If you have not created a legal entity yet, see our Setting Up E-Invoicing in Coupa page.
From the Coupa Supplier Portal homepage, click on the Orders tab. You can create a credit note against a PO by clicking on the Stack of Red Coins or by clicking into the PO.

Creating a Blank Credit Note
A legal entity must be set up before you can begin submitting credit notes. If you have not created a legal entity yet, see our Setting Up E-Invoicing in Coupa page.
From the Coupa Supplier Portal homepage, click on the Invoices tab. Select the Create Credit Note button. With a blank credit note, item information must be manually entered and all items you are crediting for must be listed.
Follow the steps below to continue creating a credit note.

Invoicing Details
The Create Credit Note page will appear and a box will pop-up to Choose Invoicing Details.
Select your company's Legal Entity. The Remit-To and Ship From Address fields will auto-populate from the information entered when the legal entity was created.
If your company has more than one Legal Entity, select the bank account listed in Remit-To that aligns with the bank account you received the funds to.
Click the Save button.

General Information
Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.
Credit Note #
Must be unique and not previously used. Coupa will verify if that credit note number has already been used.
Credit Note Date
Will default to "today's" date. The date may be changed to reflect the date goods were returned or services were completed.
Currency
Must align with the currency of the PO.
Original Invoice #
Enter the original invoice number you are issuing a credit for.
Original Invoice Date
Enter the date on the original invoice.
Attachments
Only to be used for additional support for the credit note.

Lines
Lines
All line items on the PO you are issuing a credit note against will be included under the Lines section. To remove an item that you do not need to credit for, click on the Red X Icon next to the line item you need to remove.
Adjustment Type
If you are only issuing a credit based on Quantity, Price or Other you may select it from the Adjustment Type drop-down to edit that field.
Add Line
If you need to add additional items to this credit note that were not on the original PO, click on Add Line to manually enter the item description, quantity UOM, price and part number.

Totals & Taxes
Shipping, Handling, Misc, and Tax
Enter the Shipping, Handling, Misc, and Tax information if issuing a credit for those charges as well.
Click on the Calculate button. The credit note will refresh and calculate the new information entered.
Review credit note and select Submit.

Send Credit Note
Are You Ready to Send?
Click on the Send Credit Note box to send the credit note to Tessera or you may Continue Editing the credit note.
